April short newsletter + Benchmark week announcement :)

Hi fam, for those of you who might have missed our April newsletter. Below is the short version newsletter including a little addition on what we have planned for you next week!

The Second 6-week cycle ends tomorrow and hopefully your squats, deadlifts and overall posterior chain strength have improved as well as your cardio/gym skills from the previous cycle ;)

Let's put that to the test next week with our BENCHMARK week (yay). A benchmark is a specific/classic official CrossFit workout that can be repeated regularly to test yourself (most importantly compare your past times, weights, skills unlocked, achievements and current/future ones) but also compare to friends and members around the world to see where you fit in and how much you've improved ;)

So let's have some fun together White Bull CrossFit style! It's you against you and improving 1% at a time, every day, every year... let's get it! :D

Finally, we’re taking you outside to test your running style and technique and apply all the valuable information you’ve gleaned over the past few months and the previous 2 workshops. More info to come, time to shine!

2. News & updates

    • We have switched our EU Open day from April to May to allow most people to be here and avoid the Easter holiday crash. More info to come in May.
    • You will have noticed the 1 – 2pm class on Wednesday has disappeared due to zero attendance over the past month(s). If it makes more sense to have one class over lunch and go back to a 12h30 – 13h30 full class, we might consider it so let us know over the next months
    • Calling all sports aficionados, whether you play a team sport, rock climbing, obstacle racing, fencing, trekking, kayaking, treetop adventure course, zip lining… whatever it might be! :D If you have a cool idea let us know as we’d like to organise a White Bull community outing for those interested.
    • Following our recent change of max 5 reservations for any given time, we have listened to your feedback and decided to allow a 6th reservation for UNLIMITED members only. We realized that most of you were also booking Open Gym slots, and this was deducted from your allowance. Unfortunately, the system does not allow us to exclude OG slots from your allowance - so this 6th session is the workaround we found. We believe this is also a fair compensation for members paying more for the UNLIMITED access and gives you more opportunities to take full advantage of your membership - while still allowing limited members to easily attend 11 classes.
    • We have a lot of admin and costs and we really try to make your experience as smooth as possible. Please make sure to always have sufficient funds for your automatic payments as it creates issues on our system and with the bank. We will start implementing a 4€ penalty in case of unsuccessful direct debit going forward. Thank you for understanding.
    • Little reminder of all the benefits & discounts you can have with us:

      3. Community rules

      • As always, we do our best to keep the space clean and tidy. Please always remember to put away the equipment you use, the right way at the right place and avoid leaving half-empty water bottles, tissue paper, wrappers, junk, food crumbs, clothes, you name it, behind, as much as possible. (I won’t give exact numbers on the amount of dirty underwear people forget in the men’s dressing room that we then consequently have to burn :p)
      • You might have noticed a new PR bell right next to the barbell racks  Please use it to share your achievements with the class, nay the world and let everyone know of your feat (this doesn’t only include 1.25kg more on a life, it can be a movement you’ve struggle with, a fast time, mobility unlocking, a eureka technique moment or more reps or burpees you’ve ever done in succession… heck maybe occasionally when you’re feeling particularly fit and ready to kick ass :p
      • We noticed an increased number of members attending the Open Gym lately.

      Please remember the “rules” of the Open Gym:

      • Your slot is 1 hour maximum, like any normal class. The space is small, especially with a full class. Do what you can to fit your session within the hour.
      • You can use any equipment in the box but priority always goes to the class. If the class workout includes boxes, rows, bikes, ski, etc… Please adapt your session and use different equipment..
      • Do your best to not disturb the class when taking/putting equipment back
      • And of course, bring everything back. If we notice a consistent behavior of not cleaning after yourself, we will suspend your access to the Open Gym. This also includes trivial things such as foam rollers, elastic bands, fractional plates, PVC pipes, etc…
      • Please do always remember to put your FULL NAME on the item shop list when picking your favourite Lift snack (bars & cookies)
